Football: The Legends Cup returns to Moscow this weekend, with teams of great players of yesteryear from Russia, Italy, Germany, Spain, Portugal and Holland. Russia's team will include former Spartak, Roma and Porto star Dmitry Alenichev and ex-Chelsea and Fulham midfielder Alexei Smertin. The strongest opposition looks likely to come from a Dutch squad coached by Ruud Gullit, though the likes of Lothar Matthaus, Paolo Futre and Christian Vieri are also involved at the Megasport Arena event.
Ice horses
Snow Polo: Moscow's Central Hippodrome hosts the final of the 2010 Snow Polo Cup on Sunday at 1 pm. The tournament brings together some of the world's strongest teams and players, including an Argentine squad from the homeland of the sport. The tournament is also a curtain raiser for the opening of Moscow's first polo venue, the President Golf and Polo Club, later this year.
Army in retreat
Hockey: Dinamo picked up their first regulation time win over local rivals CSKA this season, prevailing 3-2 at Luzhniki last week. Ivan Neprayev's scorching shot from beyond the blue line proved decisive. This weekend Dinamo host Vityaz Chekhov (Fri. 7:30 pm) and Torpedo Nizhny Novgorod (Sun. 5 pm). Spartak entertain MVD (Sun. 5 pm).
Playing away
Football: Russia have a friendly international against Hungary in Budapest on Mar. 3. The game will be the team‘s first outing since their World Cup elimination in November.
