Spartak
I shouldn't condone vandalism, but it really was a joy watching Spartak's marauding youngsters smash a rusty old Lokomotiv to pieces. Nikita Bazhenov started the destruction, tormenting the defence before crossing perfectly for Jano Ananidze to nod in and become Spartak's youngest ever league goalscorer. Zhano turned accomplice on the hour, sending Welliton clear to dance around the keeper and walk in a second. Then Quincy charged through several defenders and brutally smashed in a third. In contrast, Lokomotiv were as quiet as mice.

There's always a mountain to climb when you go away to Nalchik, but these were two points we could ill-afford to drop in the race for third place. Milos Krasic got us off to a flying start after just two minutes, but even if we dominated possession we couldn't get a second goal. Krasic had one ruled out for offside , but Nalchik held on. With Zenit winning at Kuban, we can't afford any slip-ups.

Frankly we were lucky to get nil after Saturday's dismal showing. Barely an attack of note for 90 minutes against a mediocre Tom side who ended up looking like world beaters - that sums up the latter half of our season. It would be nice to think our youngsters were gaining useful experience, but it seems more like they're being stripped of confidence instead.

Loko failed to put up any kind of fight as they were thrown to the lions by Spartak. From the moment Jano Ananidze nodded in the first completely unmarked there was only going to be one winner. Despite a fairly impressive season since Syomin took the helm there‘s an obvious need for a post mortem into the third goal as Quincy walked into the box before firing in unchallenged. It all looks like practice for next season barring a spectacular finish.

It was a tale of three penalties at the Streltsov as we kept up our Europa League push. First Zvonomir Vukic spurned a great chance to put us in front from the spot on 11 minutes. Then, moments after Jan Koller had cancelled out our opener from Pavel Golyshev, Kirill Nababkin's moment of madness saw him sent off - but Krylya's Ruslam Adzhinzhal missed the penalty. Down to 10 men, but still battling hard, Alexei Rebko finally showed how to slot home from 12 yards and give us an unlikely win.
