MOSCOW (MN) - The Dyagilev Project nightclub, considered by many the poshest venue on the Moscow nightlife scene was completely destroyed by fire on Wednesday morning. RIA Novosti quoted an official from the city fire fighting service as saying that two people were injured in the fire that completely engulfed the four-story building that housed the Dyagilev Project and two restaurants.
The area of fire was reported as 1,500 square meters. Twenty fire engines and a special helicopter were deployed to fight the blaze, the cause of which was unknown at the time of the report.
Dyagilev Project, opened in March 2006 and attracted the cream of Moscow's clubbers. It is rumored that tables in the club were going for $1,000 a night and V.I.P boxes for $20,000.
