It was an sandy start to ice-terrain.
The postcards I promised, never came. Now it's a pity chief these dogs are tired. We could have used their furry kind. To find our way. To translate. To break some ice. To negotiate.
See the night above us, chief. These ancient moons, all shimmery.
In this land of darkness, land of dogs. We could use our pets for dialogue."

What would you think of a band with those lyrics? I would either think it was crazy or outstanding. The lyrics are from a song by the band Baseball called ‘Land of Darkness/Land of Dogs.' Some people think they are exceptional.

Lead vocalist and violinist Thick Passage had the crowd mesmerised  by his crazy appearance, but more importantly by his ability to wail on the violin and on his vocal chords in unison. It's great when a person is both bright and talented. Evelyn Morris's turbulent drumming really is exhilarating. The other members of the band seem to be quite outstanding too, not least because they are in such perfect harmony with each other.

Thick Passage played in the band Sandro prior to joining Ninetynine, with whom he has played for many years. He is also a founding member of Baseball, a band which, more than anything, fuses his obsessions with old-school hip hop, travel and the Middle East. He is also a photographer who has exhibited and sold photographs from his travels. Monika Fikerle plays on bass, drums and sings. The guitarist is Ben Butcher.

Among all the punk-rock bands,  the Australian are some of the most strange and peaceful. Among Australian punk-rock bands, Baseball is the most original and independent. Go and listen. This young band has already travelled successfully throughout Europe and Japan.
